History of MZ Motorcycles:
In 1906, the foundation stone was laid by the young Danish engineer Jörgen Skafte Rasmussen with the purchase of an empty textile factory in Zschopau.
On April 13, 1907, the young engineer registered the name of his company as "Rasmussen & Ernst" in the Zschopau city court. The company was to produce work, household appliances and car accessories.
In 1912 the name of the factory was changed to "Zschopauer Maschinenfabrik J.S. Rasmussen".
In 1917, like other factories, they were forced by the state to produce weapons (World War I). They attempted to produce bullet casings as well as steam-powered cars. They went bankrupt, but the DKW ("Dampf Kraft Wagen", Steam-powered car) brand was born.
In 1919, another milestone was reached when the small 2-stroke engine, which the factory had built to survive again, was presented to the public at the Leipzig fair. The DKW was now known as "Des Knaben Wunsch" (Des Knaben Wunsch).
In 1920 they installed the one-horsepower auxiliary engine in a bicycle. DKW was now known as "Das Kleine Wunder" (The little miracle).
In 1921 the Golem and Lomos were produced, the first examples of the scooter model. DKW makes its racing debut in the 800 km race between Berlin and Heidelberg organized by ADAC. At the end of the race, DKW won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.
In 1922, their main motorcycle project, the Zschopau, goes into production. It was named "Reichsfahrtmodell" after its victory in the first motor race. 148 cc, 2-stroke, 2.5 horsepower motorcycles appeared on the market. The company name changes to "Zschopauer Motorenwerke J. S. Rasmussen" (Zschopau Motor Factory J.S. Rasmussen). In 1924, the DKW steel model SM leads the brand in engine production... 50,000 DKW motorcycles are produced. In 1926, for the first time, engine manufacturers are introduced to the production line for engines. The first 2-stroke 2-cylinder motorcycle with 2.5 horsepower is produced. Successes followed one after another. The German road championship and the German Grand Prix resulted in the brand's victory.
In 1927 the racing department was founded. In the same year, Rasmussen also entered the automotive and refrigerator industry. In 1928, the company acquired shares in other large companies and formed new partnerships. In 1928, the company acquired all the shares of Audi Werke AG and became the world's largest engine manufacturer with 2,357 employees.
In 1956, the company started using the MZ name and sold more than 3,000,000 motorcycles until 1990.
With the reunification of Germany in 1996, the company went public. The desired demand did not materialize.
In 2004, MZ, which was financially and technologically supported by the Malaysian company "Hong Leong Industries", took the offensive in the market again.
In 2012, as Yeşilırmak Motor, we established the MZ Parts website in order to bring the MZ name, which was about to be forgotten in Turkey, back into the memory and we acquired all the rights of the MZ brand and registered the MZ brand.
In 2017, as Yeşilırmak MZ Motor, we started the production of original MZ spare parts. The whole world now uses Yeşilırmak MZ Motor original spare parts in MZ motorcycles.
